Au pied des falaises de la Petite Chambre d’Amour, avec le cap Saint-Martin au sud, une architecture de bois tubulaire à claire-voie permet aux promeneurs de marquer une pause amoureuse en s’asseyant sur des coussins décorés. Dans ce paysage grandiose, l’expérience s’avère presque mystique. S’engager à deux dans le tunnel de la vie. Encadrer l’horizon pour en contempler la beauté changeante. Regarder vers l’ouest le soleil qui s’éteint et renaît chaque jour. Envisager l’avenir à la fois sous les auspices de l’impermanence des choses et d’un sentiment d’éternité.

Jay Nelson est un peintre et sculpteur passionné d’architecture. Il construit des structures qui suscitent une réflexion sur la relation que nous entretenons à un lieu, aux autres, à l’art. Son inspiration nait souvent d’une vie dédiée à la pratique du surf. Rachel Kaye peint quant à elle de calmes abstractions, parfois peuplées de figures, où l’on perçoit le rythme naturel du temps qui passe. Tous deux vivent à San Francisco, et leurs œuvres restituent une partie de la lumière et de la culture de la Bay Area. Ils exposent régulièrement leurs œuvres ensemble, les structures en bois de l’un abritant amoureusement les peintures de l’autre.

At the foot of the cliffs of the Petite Chambre d’Amour, a wooden structure invites walkers to take a romantic break, sitting on cushions with printed patterns inspired by the ocean breeze, the gently undulating seaweed, the waves and the wind in one’s hair. In this magnificent landscape, the experience is almost mystical. Committing together to the tunnel of life. Framing the horizon to contemplate its changing beauty. Watching the sun set in the west, knowing it will rise again. Looking to the future, pondering the impermanence of things but with a sense of eternity.
Career
Jay Nelson is a painter and sculptor who is passionate about architecture. He builds structures that make us think about our relationship with place, with others, with art. He often draws his inspiration from a life dedicated to surfing. Rachel Kaye paints quiet abstractions, sometimes populated with figures, in which we perceive the natural rhythm of the passing of time. They both live in San Francisco and their works seek to capture the light and culture of the Bay Area. They regularly exhibit their work together, the wooden structures created by the one lovingly sheltering the other’s paintings.

Al pie de los acantilados de la Petite Chambre d’Amour, una arquitectura de madera permite a los paseantes marcar una pausa amorosa y sentarse sobre unos cojines estampados inspirados por la brisa del océano, el juego de las algas movedizas, las olas y el soplo del viento en el cabello. En este grandioso paisaje, la experiencia se torna en casi mística. Comprometerse a dos en el túnel de la vida. Enmarcar el horizonte para contemplar la belleza cambiante. Mirar hacia el oeste al sol cuando se pone y su renacer de cada día. Encauzar el futuro a la vez bajo los auspicios de la intemporalidad de las cosas y con un sentimiento de eternidad.
